What it measures
The dollar price of one troy ounce (31.1035 grams) of gold — via PAXG, traded on Binance. PAXG is a token backed one-to-one by physical gold held in a vault.
Where it differs
It is neither the London fix nor a futures price; small differences occur. Buying physical bullion also adds the refiner's and the dealer's margins.
What moves it
